Supporting Beverage Brands Across Mexico

Mexico regulates imported beverages through COFEPRIS, and the label is where most first shipments run into trouble. NOM-051 sets the Spanish-language requirements and the front-of-pack warning seals that apply once a drink passes the thresholds for sugars, sodium or saturated fat.

ACMFOOD works to that reality. We provide formulation, production, quality documentation and export paperwork; your importer handles the customs declaration and the sanitary requirements in Mexico.

The seals change the artwork, not just the text. We plan the label layout around them from the first draft, and where the brief calls for it we reformulate to move a product below a threshold rather than carry a seal it does not need.

Reformulation Option

Sugar and sodium reduction planned against the NOM-051 thresholds.

Spanish Artwork

Label copy and warning seals laid out before printing is committed.

What is the minimum order quantity for Mexico?

500 cartons per SKU is the standard minimum. Several SKUs can be combined into one container, which is the usual way to start without overcommitting on a single flavour.

Your importer of record handles the sanitary and customs requirements with COFEPRIS. ACMFOOD supplies the specifications, certificates of analysis and traceability records behind them. Confirm your own obligations with COFEPRIS or your customs broker.

Only if the product exceeds the NOM-051 thresholds for sugars, sodium, saturated fat or calories. Many beverages can be formulated to sit below a threshold. We check this before artwork is drawn, because adding a seal late usually means redoing the label.

No. NOM-051 requires Spanish-language copy and a different front-of-pack system from the U.S. Nutrition Facts panel. Treat Mexico as its own artwork rather than a translation of the U.S. version.

CPTPP is in force between Vietnam and Mexico and provides preferential tariff treatment, claimed through a certification of origin. The applicable rate depends on the HS code of your specific product, so check the tariff schedule before building your landed cost.

Manzanillo for the Pacific side and central Mexico, Veracruz for the Gulf side and the east. Transit times differ, which affects both inventory planning and the shelf life remaining on arrival. Our products carry 18 to 24 months depending on product and format.
