What is the minimum order quantity for Japan?
500 cartons per SKU is the standard minimum. Several SKUs can be combined into one container, which is the usual way to start a Japanese launch without overcommitting on a single flavour.
Why does Japan reject some formulas that pass elsewhere?
Japan operates a positive list for food additives. An additive that is not listed cannot be used, even if it is permitted in the EU or the United States. We screen the formula against this before quoting rather than after production.
Who files the import paperwork?
Your importer submits the food import notification to the quarantine station under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. First shipments are commonly sampled for testing. ACMFOOD supplies specifications, certificates of analysis and traceability records.
Which trade agreement should I use?
Vietnam and Japan are both covered by CPTPP, VJEPA and RCEP. The best rate depends on your HS code, and they are not always the same. Compare all three before deciding which origin documentation to prepare.
Does the label have to be in Japanese?
Mandatory information must be given in Japanese. We plan artwork around this from the first draft, because retrofitting Japanese copy into a layout designed for English usually means redoing the label.
Which port should my shipment go to?
Yokohama, Osaka and Kobe all serve Japan well and the routing from Vietnam is short with frequent sailings. Our products carry 18 to 24 months of shelf life depending on product and packaging format.
